A handful of the teachers at Memorial wanted to READ and then meet monthly to chat about some great books. We thought we would share the titles and thoughts here on this blog and if students have read some of the same books or are interested in reading them, then you are more than welcome to chime in.<br /><br />Our first book was We Beat the Street: How a Friendship Pact Let to Success, by Drs. Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt. It is the true story of how three friends 'growing up in street-tough Newark, NJ was not an easy experience.' The struggles, peer pressure, and challenges they faced led them to agree to a pact to succeed in school, go to college, and become doctors.
